Idaho Arts Charter School
School Uniform Policy
In an effort to provide a safe and orderly environment, we have established a dress code consisting of uniforms. We believe that student attire has a direct effect upon the educational environment and upon the individual student’s ability to function at an optimum level within his or her class. We also believe that the learning environment is enhanced when differences in affluence or social affiliation are minimized. Clothing worn at Idaho Arts Charter School will be simple, classic and basic so the learning environment is not unsafe or distracting.

All have websites with a school uniform section and some carry items at our local stores in the summer/fall school clothes buying season so items can be tried on. All companies have a wide selection of clothing with varying price ranges; however, any family for whom purchasing clothing would be a financial burden should contact the school office. Please remember that all clothing items must be consistent in style to the requirements listed below. Just because an item is shown in a uniform section does not mean it is acceptable.

If item does not meet requirements, it will be required to be removed. This does not apply to seasonal coats used outside.
All hoods must be removed from head in classroom, whether on a coat, sweatshirt, sweater, etc. (please make sure your child understands this)!
All shirts and outerwear (except for seasonal coats – these are coats that are taken off in the classroom ie: winter coats, seasonal jacket) must be embroidered with the IACS name and logo or have an IACS embroidered patch sewn on the upper left front of the item (no pins, stitchery tape, magnets, etc. allowed). Sewn means sewn on!
The patches will be phased out and no longer be sold. Those who have already purchased patches may still continue to use them through the 2007/2008 school year. After that school year, patches will no longer be accepted and all items must be embroidered.
The administration has authority to allow (but is not required) an exception to the dress code/uniform policy - ie: special jean days, spirit days, school picture day, etc. as an incentive for complying with the IACS dress code/uniform policy.
