Hi! I’m Karie Yost! I am very excited about being a 1st/2nd grade teacher at IACS. I became a part of IACS when my daughter, Karsyn, was chosen through the first lottery 2 years ago. As a stay-at-home mom, I had the privilege of volunteering at the school by working in the classroom and by giving my time to the IACS PTO. I knew this was the school I wanted to teach at after filling in for Mrs. Arnold while she had her baby. There are awesome things going on at this school. It is amazing how much fun and stimulating learning can be with a little music, art, dance and drama.
I grew up right here in the Treasure Valley. I received my teaching degree from Boise State University with an endorsement in special education. I taught at Homedale Elementary for 8 years. During that time I taught in the extended resource room, 3rd grade and 4th grade. After my second daughter, Kendal, was born, I stepped away from teaching and became a full-time mom. Our girls are now 8 and 5 and both are attending IACS.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Mike, for 10 years. We are members of Real Life Community Church in Nampa. We enjoy 4-wheeling, traveling to McCall, attending musicals and plays, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and being together with friends and family.
I am excited to be a part of IACS. I am looking forward to all the great ways that I can integrate the arts into education. I am excited about working with your children, meeting you, and working with the staff at IACS.
