I have been blessed to be a teacher for 22 years!  I’ve taught second grade for nine years, blind children for nine years and fourth through third for a couple of years. During my career I have been graced with several grants, awards, teams, leadership positions and projects including; Mentor for National Board Candidates, Grant Award – “Blast to the Past”- California Technology Project, Grant Award – “Suitcase of Dreams”- Rotary Club, Board Member – Lawndale Elementary Education Foundation, Coordinator  – Student Study Team,  Teacher of the Year – Tierra Bonita Elementary, “Classroom Connect” award from Scholastic Books, Grant Award – “History In Education”- Cox Cable Company, Grant Award – “Linking the Past, Present and Future Through Technology, Grant Award – San Diego Water Authority Garden Grant; Funding Award – Rancho Bernardo Lions Club, Excellence In Special Education Award –San Diego County Administrators in Special Education, Grant Award – Program Improvement Plan, Mentor –Technology for Handicapped, Grant Award – “Write To Read”, Mattel Corporation. The most important aspect of my career is that I help my students love to learn and develop their own talents!  My most important accomplishment is the “Ah Ha!!” moment every child I teach experiences, as they master skills, and discover the world! I am gloriously, happily married to Ken, and although we have no children left at home (5 total plus one grandchild) we are proud parents to Boo Boo, our cocker spaniel and Sunset our catJ  We love to scuba dive, ski and golf together.  We dove with sharks this past year, or should I say, Ken dove and I swam as fast as I could back to the boat!  I am an avid reader and love to study the Bible, paint, sew and cook foods from around the world. My favorite food is anything chocolate, favorite artist Renoir, favorite composer Tchaikovsky and favorite book Les Miserables.   Most of all I LOVE to teach and share the joy of art, poetry, music, drama and literature with my little ones!!
