Danelle Setterlund - MS Science, Reading Teacher

My name is Danelle Setterlund.  I have been working in education since 1996 with experiences spanning from preschool through high school I am very happy to be a part of the team here at Idaho Arts Charter School where I’ve been teaching middle school science, technology and reading.

I was born in central California where I completed a two year Associates Degree in general education with a focus in accounting at Modesto Junior College in 1996.  I then transferred to California State University of Stanislaus and completed my Baccalaureate Degree with a major in liberal studies and a minor in child development in 1998.  I went on to do a year of graduate work in the teaching credential program which I completed in 2000.  I then moved to historical New England where I pursued and completed a Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts in 2004 at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. Recently, I have pursued continuing education courses at Northwest Nazarene University, Boise State University and University of Idaho to complete requirements for a special endorsement in Earth Science for the state of Idaho.

My whole family and I love to play games of most any sort, watch movies and travel together.  I also love to read, listen to music and draw whether I’m at work teaching or at home relaxing. My husband is a high school computer programming and applications teacher who can be found working on, playing on or programming the computer at just about any time when he’s not being a handyman around the house or playing the French horn.  My oldest daughter loves to do art projects of various sorts and play volleyball.  My son plays bass guitar, the French horn, soccer and basketball.  My youngest daughter plays the piano as well as the electric and acoustic guitar, and she also plays on her school volleyball team. 

I just want to take a minute to thank you for entrusting your child’s education to me and the rest of the team here at IACS.  I will work hard and make every effort to do the best I can. I believe teaching is my calling, and I know it is my passion. I also believe I can help our students make positive growth as they strive to reach their highest potential.
