Michelle Obert - 1st/2nd Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Michelle Obert and I am very excited to be joining the staff at the Idaho Arts Charter School. I will be teaching a 1/2 combo class this year. This will be my first full-time teaching position and I am looking forward to integrating arts into the curriculum and providing students with a successful education.

I grew up in Spokane, Washington and attended college at Whitworth University where I received my BA in Elementary Education, a minor in music, and a reading endorsement. I was a substitute teacher for a year and then taught a Preschool class at KinderCare for a second year before I made the decision to move to Nampa, Idaho to teach at the Idaho Arts Charter School.

I love the arts. I have been very influenced by my mother and growing up I cannot remember a time when I wasn't involved in dance, singing, or theatre. I have also played the piano for many years. I enjoy learning about new things and actively seek various ways to incorporate the arts into all subject areas. I also enjoy reading, outdoor activities, animals, doing crafts, and listening to music.

Last year I married Jason and we are enjoying the newlywed stage of life. Jason graduated from EWU with his BA in Secondary Education and is looking forward to teaching History and is coaching girls soccer at Skyview High school. Both of us are certified lifeguards and have taught swimming for several years. In our spare time we enjoy swimming, camping, and playing with our wonderful puppy.

I am excited to start this school year and am looking forward to meeting many new friends and sharing lots of new experiences with one another!
