Idaho Arts Charter School
Donald Moore - MS/HS Band Teacher

Hello, IACS students, parents and faculty. I am Donald Moore and I’m extremely pleased to be your new Band Director. Originally from the West Coast, where I’ve spent most of my career, my family and I landed in Caldwell for quality of life. We are very fond of Idaho and although we have been here less than three years, we consider it home. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, including elementary through high school bands, choirs, drum lines, guitar classes and have held positions that range from Music Director through District Wide Band Director.

My teaching experiences have been rewarding and exciting in all levels. This has included taking a number of performance groups to successful festival and competition performance, although the groups were inexperienced. I play the trumpet and have played 1st or Lead Trumpet with the San Jose State Concert, Marching and Jazz Bands and have also played professionally in a number of chamber orchestras and one large orchestra, premiering Howard Hansen’s “New Land, New Covenant”.

I have had the honor to work with some exceptional performing groups, including the Independence High School Band, which won 3rd and first place in the Bands of America Championships, in 1979 and 1981. I deeply believe the musical experience and continuous improvement to higher levels of accomplishment for students is a partnership. Beginning with progressive, supportive school administration, it must include dedicated parental support, sincere and committed students and of course, me. My professional credentials include a Master of Education from Kaplan University (honors), a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Performance from San Jose State University and teaching credentials in Idaho and California.

On the personal side, my passion focuses on my wife of 21 years, Jacquie and our son Robert that is graduating from Vallivue High School. I enjoy R/C airplanes, fishing, boating, learning innovative techniques for music instruction and working on our home in Caldwell.

It is with sincere joy and anticipation that I join the IACS team, and I’m honored to become a contributing member to this outstanding organization. It’s going to be a great year, and together, the possibilities are boundless.
