Idaho Arts Charter School
Kellsie Kater - 1st/2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Kellsie Kater. This year will be my fourth year teaching first and second grade at IACS. I began my teaching career here at IACS back when we first opened. I truly believe that integrating the arts into our education is very vital for our students. I have seen my students do amazing things, many of which others thought was not possible for such young students. My students have learned how to quilt as well as memorize and perform an actual Shakespeare play! I believe that nothing is impossible for students to do as long as you have high expectations and believe in them.
I am a graduate from Boise State University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education and my endorsement in Reading. I am currently working on my Master's in Reading at Boise State. I have also attended college at the Columbia Basin Community College in Pasco, Washington and Washington State University in Richland, Washington.
I lived in Nampa until I was twelve when my family was relocated to Kennewick, Washington. I spent the rest of my childhood in Washington and moved back to Idaho to go to school. I love to write stories and poetry, scrapbook, take pictures, do cross stitch, read, hike and travel. Two of my long term goals is to travel to Japan and the United Kingdom. I love drama and enjoy going to movies and plays. Right now I am living in Nampa with my husband James, our daughter Keara, and our two cats Tora and Haley. I am looking forward to another great year at IACS.
