Shelley Bonds - 1st/2nd Grade Teacher

Hi!  I’m Shelley Bonds and am incredibly excited to be joining the Idaho Arts Charter this year!  I will be teaching a 1/2 class and am looking forward to integrating all aspects of art into the curriculum.  This is going to be my fifth year teaching; I have had the pleasure of teaching a variety of grades for the Nampa School District over the past four years.  Prior to that, I went to school and was a full time mom.

I have a wonderful family.  My husband, Eric is a teacher/coach and we have two beautiful boys Kacy (age 12) and Cameron (age 10).  We love to travel as a family, boat, tube, bike ride and play games.  We love sports of all kinds but especially football, basketball, track and softball.  We moved to Nampa four years ago from Bend, Oregon.  When I have a free moment, I love to read, play the piano, garden, walk and listen to music.

I love the arts.  I have played the piano for the past 31 years.  I am continually learning about drawing, paint and all aspects of art.  I have been fortunate to be Scottish Storyline trained.  It lends itself so nicely to integrating art with reading, math, social studies and science.  It brings learning alive for students of all ages and honestly, for me as a teacher.  I am looking forward to Storyline this year!

It is very exciting to start this new school year! I look forward to meeting many new friends and sharing lots of new experiences!
